Remote Assistance
Many repairs can be done over the internet by allowing me to connect to your computer. A broadband connection is required, such as DSL or cable internet. Dial up connections are not fast enough to support the constant information being transferred between the two computers.
What do I use?
I do not use illegitimate software to access your computer. I use a professional software suite from Citrix Online LLC called GoTo Assist. This is the same software that Mcafee uses to remotely fix computers over the web. It allows you to view all work that is performed on your computer as well as gives you the ability to take control and close the connection at any time. The connection between the two computers are secure, encrypted and good for only one session. This means that after the repair session is complete, the software automatically uninstalls itself.
What to expect
I will send you a link to an address at fastsupport.com. The link will include the secure key that will allow our computers to connect for a single session. When you click the link, you will be directed to a page that will help you install the small program needed to allow me to connect. After it is installed, it will inform you that a repair specialist (myself) is attempting to view your screen. After you click 'allow' we can communicate within the program and the repairs begin. I will explain everything I am doing as you look on. When repairs are complete, the program that was downloaded will uninstall itself from your computer.
Special Note: Since I am able to view your screen, please close any windows or images you do not wish for me to view prior to beginning the session. I advise everyone of this before I send the link as well.
How secure is this?
All transferred information is fully encrypted between computers. The encryption key given to you within the link is good for one and only one session. This protects the both of us as no one else, including myself, can reconnect to your computer after the session is complete. After the repair session is complete, the software completely uninstalls itself from your computer.
What if my computer can't be repaired?
If the computer cannot repaired remotely, then there is no charge. I will still inform you of what the problem is and if any new hardware is needed for your computer.
If payment was made prior to the repair session, all money will be immediately refunded to your card. Being able to have this option is another reason I use Google Checkout to handle payments.
